[video] Divine Fits - First Live Concert!

Divine Fits in concert!

Last night, Divine Fits surprised Austin with a secret show, performing under the pseudonym The Hot Skulls at the Continental Club. To the lucky few who either knew about the ruse, or just so happened to be looking for new jams, they were in for a treat. Above you can watch the Britt Daniel-sung "Flaggin A Ride", and if you follow this link (via Stereogum), you can watch two other songs: "My Love Is Real" and the Tom Petty cover "You Got Lucky". Sounds pretty great, can't wait to hear the whole album!

[video] Moonface - "Faraway Lightning"

Epic Video from Moonface

"Faraway Lightning", the latest single off Moonface's Heartbreaking Bravery, has a new music video. Created by Marsha Balaeva, the stop motion-animated video is filled with Native American imagery and far-out visuals. It's perfect for the ominously-brooding track, which features the backing of Finnish post-rock outfit Siinai. Check it out!

[video] Two•Tonne Bowlers - "An Acquired Taste" (w/ Spencer Krug)

Spencer Krug at age 17

Certain things are just better left buried, but luckily for us, someone else has done all the digging. A while back, it came to the knowledge of we Spencer Krug fans that he was once in a ska band. I didn't believe it at first, but more substantial evidence surfaced, thus confirming the rumors.

You most probably associate Krug with bands like Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Moonface, Frog Eyes, Swan Lake, or even Fifths of Seven. One that I'm guessing isn't on that list is the Two•Tonne Bowlers. Well, he had to start somewhere, and if you'd like to see some extremely rare live footage of Krug's high school band for yourself, check out the video above. Thank you YouTube!

[new music] Vacationer - Gone LP

Debut Album from Vacationer!

I’ve been slow to get this out there, but you MUST check out Vacationer’s newest LP Gone. Not to be confused with the "Gone" Single, or the Gone EP, the band’s debut album follows the same formula of island-themed dreamscaping. Listening to Gone feels like a magical ride to some place tropical and surreal. Book your trip Buy the album here, stream the album here (via Spotify), or check out one of the new tracks below. In case you haven’t heard the song that inspired it all, watch the video for "Gone" below as well.

[video] The Shins - "Simple Song"

The Shins just released the music video for "Simple Song", their first single from the upcoming Port Morrow. The new LP drops on March 20, and based off this song and "September", I'm very excited about this release. Hear that one below:

[video] Leeni covers Lana Del Rey's "Video Games"

Game Boy-version

It only seems fitting that the first chiptune cover of Lana Del Rey's "Video Games" comes to us from Leeni, a musician who used a Gameboy to write her debut album, 8-Bit Heart. What makes this literal cover even more enjoyable is the music video that accompanies it (see above). Conjuring nostalgia with a montage of old school classics like Rad Racer, California Games, and Zelda (to name a few), the entire experience is very nice.

[video] Seattle Seahawks' CenturyLink Field Is Alive! w/ M83 - "Midnight City"

CentryLink Field rocks even when it's empty!

Very rarely do I get to mix my two passions: music and the Seattle Seahawks. Sure, I've made draft day playlists, but unless I'm writing about the Craig Terrill Band, I usually have to post about one or the other. However, thanks to Jimmy Diebold and his directorial magic, he's found a way to incorporate both in an amazing stop motion video, personifying CenturyLink Field to the backdrop of M83's "Midnight City".* Notably, M83's Hurry Up, I'm Dreaming achieved "Best LP of 2011" honors here at Three Colours. Much to the delight of this 12th Man, this video (entitled "Midnight Lights") will forever be a fan favorite for pregame pump ups and offseason reminders of how much energy Seattle brings to the game.

[video] Father John Misty - "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings"

New Tunes from Josh Tillman

At the end of last year, J. Tillman took an indefinite hiatus from the amazing Fleet Foxes to pursue a new musical project. Playing under the moniker Father John Misty, Tillman has just shared his first single "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings" (mp3 below), along with the sweet music video above starring Aubrey Plaza of NBC’s Parks and Recreation. His debut LP, entitled Fear Fun, is set to release via Sub Pop on May 1. Compared to his solo work, this track has a lot more rock. Extremely catchy, and hopefully a glimpse of what's to come. [new music] Lord Huron - "Man Who Lives Forever"

New Song from Lord Huron

Back in October, Rollo & Grady posted a video series with Lord Huron, capturing the three-song private session that the band played for the LA music bloggers. Earlier, I shared links to two of those songs, "She Lit A Fire" and "The Stranger". A third song, "Man Who Lives Forever", was also shared later, and you can view/hear it above. It's really catchy, and makes me excited about the idea of Lord Huron LP (hopefully in the works).

Lord Huron tour dates:
01-13-12 :: Founders Hall at The Segerstrom Center for the Arts - Costa Mesa, CA

[video] Fleet Foxes - "The Shrine / An Argument"

Sean Pecknold's latest creation

Magical, imagination-provoking imagery drives this incredible Fleet Foxes' music video. Sean Pecknold has honed his mastery of animation and created one of his best films to date. I will say, the saxophone "solo" in this beautiful song is a bit grating when listening through Helplessness Blues, but watching the two-headed dragon scene in the video makes it much more tolerable.

Check out the video for "The Shrine / An Argument" above. And also take a gander at Fleet Foxes's live show as they continue their international tour.

[video] Miracle Fortress - "Miscalculations" + Tour Dates

New video, tour dates from Miracle Fortress

My favorite, "feel-good" jam from Miracle Fortress's second LP Was I The Wave? now has a music video. During the band's 2011 summer tour for the sophomore album, Graham Van Pelt & Co. captured a lot of the road-tripping magic on 8mm, and the results are as touching as the song itself. I'm not sure what it is about this "Miscalculations" (which most resembles the dreamy-pop classics found on Five Roses), but when I hear it I'm dosed with a healthy shot of optimism.

Miracle Fortress continues to blaze across the world in support of WITW? Of note, they'll be supporting Québec's Coeur de Pirate in February. For a full list of dates, look below.

Miracle Fortress tour dates:
