[video] Plants and Animals (Live @ KEXP)

Plants and Animals in the KEXP Studio

Before rocking out the Crocodile, Plants and Animals played a four-song set over at KEXP. Well, they've finally released the footage, which can be seen via YouTube. I've attached my two favorite performances: "Celebration" and "Game Shows," but you can also watch the in-studio performances of "The Mama Papa" and "Undone Melody" (as well as the other two songs) in high definition by going here.

In other P&A news, the band will be returning to the Emerald City for the 40th anniversary of Bumbershoot. The line up for the Seattle music and art festival was just posted, and if you'd like to catch Plants and Animals again, go on Sunday, September 5.

[video] Local Natives - "Airplanes" on Craig Ferguson

For those of you who missed the Local Natives' awesome Thursday-night performance of "Airplanes" on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, here you go. One of my favorite albums thus far in 2010, Gorilla Manor is one of those instant classics that ceases to wear out. Below is another video of their KEXP live rendition of the Talking Heads cover "Warning Sign." Enjoy.

[video] El Ten Eleven - "Indian Summer" (Live at KEXP)

New & unreleased music from El Ten Eleven

For those of you who caught this when it originally aired back in April on KEXP, you'll agree with me that this song is incredible; however, the radio just doesn't do it the justice that this song deserves. With the amount of looping that goes on during an El Ten Eleven jam session, you'd swear that you're listening to a band of four (at least). But when you witness these two dudes work their live act, the precision in their songcrafting places these tunes on a whole new level. Courtesy of KEXP, you can now watch El Ten Eleven's performance of a new and unreleased gem, "Indian Summer," as well as the classic (and best named song, ever) "I Like Van Halen Because My Sister Says They Are Cool." Enjoy!

We Were Promised Jetpacks Sign with FatCat Records

We Were Promised a Debut Album

Huge news for the Scotland quartet, We Were Promised Jetpacks - the band has just this month signed on with FatCat Records, home to No Age, Sigur Rós, and touring mates Frightened Rabbit. The band has garnered a lot of attention after releasing their 3-song EP, which is available on a previous post, as well as though extensive touring along side Frightened Rabbit. Their biggest break seems to have come from KEXP's Song of the Day for "Quiet Little Voices" (which is where I first heard the band). According to FatCat, we should all expect a WWPJ album to debut around May 2009 - exciting stuff. Some songs that will inevitably end up on the record are posted below:

MP3:
WWPJ - "Ships With Holes Will Sink" (live)

WWPJ - "Roll Up Your Sleeves" (live)
