This week's HDPP is sure to get you over the hump. Featuring a collection of the most accessible LCD Soundsystem songs (in my opinion), these hits will deliver a burst of energy to any willing listener. Sadly, James Murphy does not plan to make music under this moniker ever again. Fortunately for rabid LCD fans, though, one more opportunity still remains for "experiencing" the band. On July 18, a pseudo-documentary will debut, cataloging the last days of LCD Soundsystem before their disbandment. On Record Store Day, Franz Ferdinand released a 5-song EP which featured covers of their songs from Tonight performed by bands that FF apparently loves. These include Debbie Harry, Stephin Merritt (of Magnetic Fields), LCD Soundsystem, ESG, and Peaches. For those of you who didn't pick up a copy of the coloured 12" vinyl of the Covers EP as part of the Record Store Day celebrations, Domino Records announced that the EP will also be released on CD & black vinyl on May 2.

I can't believe This Is Happening

In about a month, LCD Soundsystem's third LP This Is Happening hits shelves (May 18), and the first single off the album has just been given a music video. You'll either hate "Drunk Girls" or you'll find the infectious chorus quite lovely, but either way, this video is off the wall.

Co-directed by Spike Jones (listen for the Where The Wild Things Are howl at the end) and LCD mastermind James Murphy, it's quite hilarious. The music video documents the band singing over the studio track while they're pummeled by drunk "panduhs." Some of this actually looks like it was quite unpleasant for the band. But it's very entertaining and worth the watch.
