[news] Plants and Animals to tour with Frightened Rabbit

New tour dates announced for P&A

Seattle is going to get a double dose of Plants and Animals this fall. First at Bumbershoot 2010 on September 4 (along with The Budos Band), and now on October 7 at the Showbox. The latter date includes stage support from Scotland's very own Frightened Rabbit. Both shows are bound to great since I've seen P&A absolutely kill at both the festival setting and the intimate club setting.

After Bumbershoot, Plants and Animals will head across the Atlantic for a number of EU shows before returning in October to complete their US leg. Check them out in a city near you (more dates posted below) and if you still haven't listened to their newest LP La La Land, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy today.

Music To Get Excited About

Next month, The Budos Band will release their highly anticipated 3rd LP, fittingly titled The Budos Band III. The Staten Island-based Afro beat groovemeisters are offering up a special deal for those who pre-order their album now at Daptone's online store. The first 800 pre-orders will come with a free 45 single of "Kakal" from The Budos Band III by way of "Hidden Hand" from last year's The Budos Band EP.

The Budos Band III won't hit shelves until August 10th, but you can hear the first single, "Unbroken, Unshaven," below.

Before rocking out the Crocodile, Plants and Animals played a four-song set over at KEXP. Well, they've finally released the footage, which can be seen via YouTube. I've attached my two favorite performances: "Celebration" and "Game Shows," but you can also watch the in-studio performances of "The Mama Papa" and "Undone Melody" (as well as the other two songs) in high definition by going here.

In other P&A news, the band will be returning to the Emerald City for the 40th anniversary of Bumbershoot. The line up for the Seattle music and art festival was just posted, and if you'd like to catch Plants and Animals again, go on Sunday, September 5.

I don't like to re-post past threads, but since Bumbershoot begins this Labor Day weekend I figured I would reiterate my opinion on what shows to see while attending.

Hopefully this guide will steer attendees to the best musical acts of the festival. I think this is probably the strongest lineup in years, and there's bound to be some bands that I'm neglecting to put in there, but that's the magic of Bumbershoot - the most memorable acts are the ones you happen to stumble upon while wander the Seattle Center. My biggest complaint this year, however, is the overlapping shows of Telekinsis and Elvis Perkins in Dearland. Oh well, if I hustle I can probably catch most of both shows.
