Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer & "Idiot Heart"

"Idiot Heart" - First Listen

Thanks to Pitchfork, we now have our first taste of Sunset Rubdown's newest album, Dragonslayer. First debuted on the band's second Daytrotter Session, "Idiot Heart" has finally made it through the studio recording process, and it sounds even better. As reported in this Stereogum article, when recording Dragonslayer Krug said he avoided the "second guessing" he thinks had a negative effect on Random Spirit Lover:
Krug and the rest of Sunset Rubdown recorded all the instruments live "on the floor." "I like these kinds of recordings because they're very honest and it's hard to pretend that you sound any different from whatever it is,"
Dragonslayer will be released through Jagjaguwar on June 23, 2009. After that, as reported before, Krug plans on releasing some experimental recordings that he's been working on for the last two years - an EP of marimba and drum songs! I'm guessing it'll be in line with Fifths of Seven, but then again, who knows?
